Linda Voortman, Tweede Kamerlid, verklaart dat het niet inzetten van tolken in de zorgsector meer geld heeft gekost aan de Nederlandse Staat dan wanneer er wel tolken werden ingezet.

Een taalbarrière kan vaak leiden tot onjuiste diagnoses en nodeloze consultaties in de gezondheidssector, juist daarom worden er tolken ingezet.

Vorig jaar werden de subsidies voor het inzetten van tolken in de zorgsector ingetrokken en zeer snel, maar één jaar later, voelt Nederland de gevolgen hiervan in de begroting, aldus Voortman.
